Hotel chain clients are a digital marketer’s dream. They have multiple physical locations where scores of people visit each day; They are usually highly photogenic; They are used to giving out discounts and rewards for feedback; and their brand recognition is usually pretty high.
Starwood Hotels (Westin, Sheraton, W Hotels, etc) has been ahead of the curve digitally for years.It seems like I am constantly reading about some new platform or technology that they are trying out in hopes of adding even more value to their loyal customers.

Starwood’s latest digital activation is a partnership with foursquare to promote their Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) program. SPG is a rewards program that gives visitors points that can be redeemed for future trips.
Starwood is encouraging SPG members to link their foursquare and SPG accounts. Once the accounts are linked, your SPG account will be rewarded with 250 bonus points for every check-in to a Starwood hotel during an eligible stay.
Starwood also offers a Facebook account link for SPG and rewards visitors similarly for Facebook check-ins.
SPG members already get a decent amount of SPG points for every night of their stay, so an additional 250 towards future stays for just checking-in is icing on the cake. If you are planning a stay in a Starwood hotel between now and December 20th, don’t forget to check-in on foursquare!
