Following the trend of transforming games you grew up with (like Monopoly, Jeopardy, Madden and Oregon Trail) into Facebook games, Electronic Arts (EA) has brought Hasbro’s classic board game Risk to the social network.
Risk: Factions combines the features of the board game with the necessary social tools and requirements that enable games to gain large amounts of players in a short period of time.
You start the game by building up your army (with a little help from your friends) and then once the army is up to snuff, you can head off to combat your enemies and conquer territories. The game is a bit complicated at first blush, but there is a rather lengthy tutorial when you play the game for the first time.
EA was surprisingly underrepresented on the list of the top 10 Facebook games for 2011. It will be interesting to see if Risk: Factions is able to crack the 2012 list.
Have you played Risk: Factions yet? What do you think?
