Updated Google Play stats for 2026: monthly users, countries served, total apps available, annual installs and spending estimates, Play Protect scanning volume, and app safety enforcement—plus FAQs.
Google Play is Google’s digital distribution platform for Android, where users discover and download apps and games, and can also buy or rent select digital content (availability varies by country). For developers, Google Play is the primary storefront for reaching Android users at scale.
Google doesn’t publish a single public dashboard for “Google Play users, downloads, and revenue” in the way some people expect. So the most accurate way to track Google Play’s scale is to combine (1) Google’s own disclosures about usage, reach, and security enforcement with (2) transparent third-party market trackers for catalog size and spending estimates.
| Metric | Value | Year / Period | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly Google Play users | 2.5B+ | 2022 (company statement) | Google Blog |
| Countries served | 190+ | 2022 (company statement) | Google Blog |
| Apps available on Google Play | ~1.7M | Feb 2026 | Appbrain |

| Developer accounts blocked | 80,000+ | 2025 | Google Security Blog |

Google has stated that more than 2.5 billion people in over 190 countries use Google Play every month to discover apps, games, and digital content. While that disclosure is from 2022, it remains one of the clearest public scale metrics Google has shared for Play usage.

Google Play’s app catalog size has changed dramatically. Independent tracker Appbrain reports about 1.7 million apps available on Google Play as of February 2026. This follows a major cleanup effort reported in 2024–2025, when the Play Store removed large numbers of low-quality or policy-violating apps.
Google publishes annual security updates describing how it polices Play and protects Android users. In its 2025 safety recap, Google said it:
These are some of the most verifiable, consistently updated “Google Play stats” available because they come directly from Google’s security reporting.
Google does not publicly report a single “Google Play revenue” line item. Most “Google Play spending” figures you’ll see are based on third-party measurement and estimates. One widely cited industry compilation estimates Google Play consumer spending at about $49.2 billion in 2025 (apps + games).
If you use spending estimates, label them as estimates and keep your source consistent year over year to avoid apples-to-oranges comparisons.
Google has stated that 2.5+ billion people use Google Play monthly in 190+ countries (company statement published in 2022).
Appbrain reports about 1.7 million apps on Google Play as of February 2026. Counts can change quickly as apps are added and removed.
Google reports aggressive enforcement. In its 2025 recap, Google said it rejected 1.75M apps, blocked 80K+ developer accounts, and said Play Protect scans 350B+ apps daily.
Google doesn’t publish an official public number for consumer spending on Google Play. Industry estimates vary; one widely cited compilation estimates ~$49.2B in 2025.
Google has said Google Play is used in 190+ countries. Availability of paid apps and specific content types varies by country (Google maintains a country-availability help page).
