How Many People Use 1000+ of the Top Social Media, Apps and Digital Services?

Ever wondered how many people use your favorite social network, app or digital service? You’re in luck.

Here is my monthly, running tally of how many people are using some of the top social media, digital services and mobile apps updated for November 2015 (the best I could find, at least). This list grows pretty regularly. It began with a simple listing of some of the obvious social networks like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Skype, YouTube, WhatsApp, etc; then grew to include digital services like Amazon, Google, eBay, Netflix and Pandora; then the focus turned to APAC social and digital properties like Weibo, WeChat,, LINE and Renren; and lately, I have been focused on updating current listings, adding in new ones along with smaller niche ones that I may have overlooked at the beginning. This post now includes over 900 listings and more are added almost weekly.

How Social Media is Revolutionising the Food Industry

Last month, Waitrose boss Mark Price concluded that social media has led to dramatic changes in the way we now perceive food, which in turn has sparked a dilemma for food industry giants.

The report has found that Britons have recently developed more cosmopolitan taste buds, born out of the sharing of food images online. As social media provides a way for the globe to share images and ideas, it’s no wonder we are now taking food inspiration from people all over the world.

According to the report…

The Rise of Video Marketing

Video is the future of content marketing…a bold statement you may think, but this really is undeniable. Research has shown that the average internet user watches around 206 videos each month and so it’s a total no-brainer that video is set to become the content king.

As we become increasing scanners, with heaps of content at our disposal, marketers need to find ever more engaging ways of getting their content seen. Unlike reading articles, video has an impressive 79% completion rate, and so its no wonder this is quickly becoming the go-to marketing platform.

Already, 70% of marketers now include video in there overall marketing strategies, positing them as a vital mart of campaigns. So, if your business isn’t reaping the endless benefits of video then what on earth are you waiting for? Video is undeniably the most powerful marketing tool on the web; it’s persuasive, memorable and search engines love it!

What Percentage of Instagram’s Users are Women? (New and Updated Instagram Stats)

It’s been a little while since I spent some time updating my Instagram stat posts, mostly because there was a long period of time when there really wasn’t much coming out about it. Instagram stats are tougher to come by than you would expect from a digital platform owned by a publicly-traded company. Even though they are owned by Facebook, Instagram stats aren’t generally released when Facebook reports their quarterly financials. I’ve dug up quite a few new stats over the past few weeks and added them to my posts.

Below are a few of the more interesting Instagram stats from this round.

When Should I be Posting on Social Media?

Many users blanket post their content over all platforms at the same time, meaning the same message is posted on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Google+…..this is sacrilege. Every social media platform has a different optimal time to post and this is based upon the usage of each platform. If you want to make the most of your posts then follow these simple guidelines – it’s not an exact science but hopefully we’ll be able to help you get the most out of all of your posts.

10 Instagram Stats That Every Marketer Should Know

Someone asked me the other day just how many stats I had accumulated on DMR. Honestly, I have no idea, but the total is well into the thousands. While I am constantly (daily) working to make it easier for you to find the stat you need when you need it, it can still be a bit challenging to sift through everything at times.

As a marketer, some stats I list here are more interesting to me than others, especially if I am looking for a few quick ones to throw into a proposal or presentation. Knowing this, I’ve pulled a few stats from my Instagram post that I find very interesting from a marketing point of view. These stats not only illustrate why you should be using Instagram, but also how to best use it.

Why you can no Longer Ignore the Hashtag and its #WorldDomination

It’s undeniable that the hashtag is an integral part of social media marketing and from the seriously weird, to the utterly wonderful, there is a hashtag for everything. So, for all the #haters it looks like you’re fighting a losing battle, this small, once rarely used symbol seems to be taking over the world one hashtag at a time.

New and Updated Stats: Google+, Instagram, Pinterest, Reddit

You may have noticed that DMR has been a bit quiet lately. I took a very overdue vacation in the mountains of New Hampshire and had access to the Internet for about 5 minutes a day. Home now and getting back into the swing of things. First up, is my continued efforts to chip away at the mountain of stats that has built up over the past few months. We have certainly had no shortage of social media stats lately. Below are a few of the additions and updates. Keep an eye out for more updates this week. I am setting aside quite a bit of time this week to get caught up.
