Trader Joe’s is a specialty grocery store chain that sells a wide range of food and beverage products, including organic and gourmet items, at affordable prices. It is known for its unique and innovative products, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and quirky store design.
Trader Joe’s was founded by Joe Coulombe in 1958 as a convenience store chain called “Pronto Markets” in Pasadena, California. Coulombe changed the name to “Trader Joe’s” in the 1960s, and began focusing on selling more exotic and hard-to-find food and drink items, including international and ethnic foods, as well as wine.
Trader Joe’s was acquired by the Albrecht family, the owners of the German discount supermarket chain Aldi, in 1979. The company expanded over the years, opening new stores across the United States and growing a loyal customer base. Today, Trader Joe’s has over 400 stores in 42 states and Washington, D.C. and has become a popular destination for foodies and bargain hunters alike.
