Founded in 1910 by a teenage entrepreneur with two shoe boxes of postcards under his arm, Hallmark today is an approximately $4 billion company, while still family owned and privately held in Kansas City, Missouri, with a diversified portfolio of six core businesses as part of its global operations:
- Hallmark Greetings: global business selling greeting cards & gifts in 30+ languages with distribution in more than 100 countries & 100,000 rooftops.
- Hallmark Retail: operates 2,000 Hallmark Gold Crown stores in five countries.
- Hallmark Home & Gifts: a broad array of home décor & gift product throughout the U.S.
- Crayola®: a wide range of art materials & toys designed to spark children’s creativity around the globe.
- Crown Media Family Networks: three cable channels – Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and Hallmark Drama – in addition to Hallmark Publishing, the e-books division of the Hallmark channels, and Hallmark Movies Now, a subscription-based streaming service.
- Crown Center: real estate development company that manages the 85-acre hotel, office, entertainment & residential campus surrounding Hallmark’s headquarters.
