11 Amazing Snapchat Statistics (February 2014)

snapchat statisticsSnapchat has certainly enjoyed a relatively fast rise to prominence in the digital world. What started out just a couple of years ago as a somewhat obscure mobile network, has gone mainstream in a big way and is now on the radar of some of the largest digital firms out there including Facebook, who reportedly offered $3 billion in late 2013.

So how far have they come? Here are the Snapchat statistics and facts I was able to dig up. As with most private companies, the numbers are tougher to come by, but as more stats make their way into the media, I will be sure to update this post.

  • Percentage of Snapchat users that are women: roughly 70% Last updated 11/20/13

  • Number of Snapchat snaps per day: 400 million Last updated 11/20/13

  • Percentage of Snapchat snaps that are shared with multiple recipients: 12% Last updated 11/19/13

  • Percentage of US teens (13-17) that use Snapchat on a mobile device: 32% Last updated 11/25/13

  • Percentage of UK smartphone users that use SnapChat: 25% Last updated 11/24/13

  • Percentage of Norway smartphone users that use SnapChat: 50% last updated 11/24/13

  • Number of SnapChat employees: 30 Last updated 11/24/13

  • Amount Facebook reportedly offered to buy Snapchat for: $3 billion Last updated 11/19/13

Please note that some of these numbers are easier to find than others. A few of these stats come from Snapchat’s own reports, but some are based on news reports and not official company tallies. Basically, this is the best I can find and I don’t guarantee anything to be 100% accurate.
