Planet Fitness is a chain of fitness centers that offer affordable gym memberships and a non-intimidating, “Judgment Free Zone” atmosphere. It was founded in 1992 in Dover, New Hampshire, by Michael Grondahl and his father, and it has since grown to become one of the largest and fastest-growing fitness franchises in the world, with over 2,000 locations in the United States and other countries. Planet Fitness is known for its purple and yellow color scheme, its “Lunk Alarm” to discourage loud and intimidating behavior, and its emphasis on creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for people of all fitness levels.
