Stellantis is a multinational automotive group that was formed in January 2021 through the merger of two major automobile manufacturers: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and Groupe PSA. The company is headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and has a global presence with over 400,000 employees in more than 130 countries.
The merger was a result of a 50-50 all-share agreement between FCA and PSA. The new company’s name, “Stellantis,” comes from the Latin word “stello,” which means “to brighten with stars.”Stellantis is now the fourth-largest automaker in the world by volume, with a diverse portfolio of brands including Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Peugeot, Citroen, Opel, and Vauxhall. The company aims to leverage the strengths of both FCA and PSA to accelerate its electrification efforts and drive innovation in the automotive industry.
