LinkedIn can be an extremely powerful and effective sales tool that can help open doors and facilitate conversations that a small business owner previously would have never been able to have. It can also be overwhelming and confusing to users who don’t have the time to invest in researching how each of the professional social network’s features work.
Earlier this summer, I authored Leveling the Playing Field; A Small Business Guide to Generating Leads Using LinkedIn, which was offered exclusively, until now, through Amazon in the Kindle format. I am pleased to say that this resource guide is now available to all in downloadable pdf format right here on DMR.
Happy Coffee Day! Here is a fun infographic that tries to explain social media in terms of coffee. This is a pretty good pairing since most of us in the social media marketing world are over-caffeinated, coffee addicts.
Social media is undeniably an integral part of our daily routine and brings huge benefits to both our business and personal lives. As these benefits become more apparent, an increasing number of brands and businesses are integrating social media into their overall marketing strategies. These platforms give brands a free and invaluable way to connect with clients (both current and potential), spread brand warmth, monitor competitors, manage customer service, gain customer insights and drive website traffic….so what’s not to love?
Yet, many brands are jumping feet first into the social media realm without truly understanding the basics; mainly, how to post content. It is no secret that Facebook has been putting the squeeze on businesses for quite some time now. Like just about every other online property that is trying to survive financially, Facebook is increasingly becoming a “pay to play” platform for businesses looking to reach its users. Organic page post reach has been dramatically reduced and even the largest of brands are finding it difficult to reach their own likes, let alone new audiences, without advertising it.
So how do you combat this shift and keep Facebook a viable digital channel for your business. The obvious answer is start investing in advertising you posts. Almost as important is to be smart about your Facebook posting to ensure you maximize your free reach.
When promoting yourself in your given industry, it’s possible that you will turn your sights to LinkedIn. Viewed as the social media website with the most to offer in regards to employment, it’s easy to not only create your own digital resume but network with those who are in companies or businesses similar to your own. Keep in mind, though, that only the best LinkedIn pages stand the chance of being recognized.
If you want your page to stand out, allowing it to be more marketable, here are 5 elements not to overlook.
Back in 2009 we were presenting to groups of MBA’s, Masters and undergraduates at leading Business Schools about how they should make the most of LinkedIn.
