One of the biggest misconceptions about social media is that it enables users to craft a new personality and persona that is different from them in “real” life.
As a person that spends a bunch of time using social media daily for work and play, and has seen it all, I can assure you that your true personality will come out eventually if you are even moderately active on social media.
Social media is really more transparent than some people may realize. It is just too difficult to mask your opinions, interests and tendencies when you have such quick and easy access to direct communication tools.
