Backing up your website regularly should be a no-brainer, but for many publishers, it is often put off in favor of more content generation or adding site functionality. It is very similar to backing up your computer files; we all know we need to do it, we just don’t put a high priority on it and often don’t until something catastrophic happens.
Well, if you were one of the many website owners (like me) that were impacted by last week’s massive hosting outage, backing up your site may have just bumped a few things on that to do list. If you are like me, when you hosting company goes down for any period of time, you freak out. Thankfully, that episode was caused by a server update and no damage was done to storage, but you never know.
