If you are like me, LinkedIn is low on your social media priority list. With so many networks to maintain these days, posting to the less-engaging LinkedIn often seems like the work is greater than the rewards.
My solution, like so many other users, has been to connect my Twitter to LinkedIn and push tweets to my profile as updates. This has been an adequate enough solution to keeping my profile relatively fresh.
Well, if you too had been updating LinkedIn this way, you better find a new method. LinkedIn announced on their blog today that, starting today, Twitter will no longer allow automatic publishing of tweets to LinkedIn.
All is not lost. LinkedIn is quick to remind us that the reverse is still possible if you want to enter an update and then share directly to Twitter. I don’t think I will be going this route.
There are also third-party services like Hootsuite that give you the ability to post to both LinkedIn and Twitter. In the future, I will focus a post or two on automation services that help you post to multiple profiles easily.
Oh, and don’t forget that many sites like this one also have share buttons for LinkedIn to make sharing links to your profile a bit easier. (hint hint)
What do you think about this change? Why do you think Twitter pulled the plug on LinkedIn. Share your thoughts below!
