Relatively speaking, PayPal has been around forever which makes it easy to take for granted. That said, who would’ve thought that the little service we used to pay for eBay impulse purchases 10 years ago would become such an eCommerce force and still going strong in 2016?
One would think that an online banking platform used by 180+ million people would have an abundance of interesting stats and PayPal certainly doesn’t disappoint. Here are a few of the more interesting PayPal statistics I was able to dig up. As Alibaba claims its place as one of the world’s leading digital companies, one of its oldest and most important services, Alipay, continues to grow at a very impressive clip. In case you aren’t familiar with Alipay, it is an eleven year old online payment service (think: Paypal) that is based in China.

It seems like the only time we hear about them is when something goes wrong like a security issue or an SEO fiasco. Well, while the others make the headlines, eBay is chugging along and selling a bunch of merchandise.
