As the Nation is in the midst of dealing with tornadoes and all types of violent weather already, All Facebook tells us about the National Hurricane Center’s efforts to build their Facebook presence going into this year’s hurricane season.
The governmental organization’s page currently has close to 15,000 likes and is intended to serve as a clearinghouse for storm info, warnings and updates.
Over the past year, the US Government and quasi-governmental agencies have embraced digital marketing more than ever. Some of their most recent efforts include the Internal Revenue Service creating a mobile tax app, Homeland Security looking to Facebook and Twitter for terror alert dissemination and a number of agencies partnering up to issue Amber Alerts on Facebook.
Clearly, the Federal Government understands the value of a solid digital marketing campaign to get their message out to the masses.
