A page that popped up in my Facebook feed today grabbed my attention and got me curious. It is a “coming soon” page for a new socially/environmentally responsible Disney Facebook game that is modeled after their famous Animal Kingdom theme park.
Here is how Disney describes Disney Animal Kingdom Explorers:
Just Updated for November: Find Out How Many People Use 1,000 of Your Favorite Social Networks, Apps and Digital Services
Inspired by the most popular animal park in the Universe, Disney Social Games presents a brand new Hidden Object Game for Facebook.
Animal Kingdom Explorers invites you to join a team of globe-trotting wildlife experts on nature’s ultimate quest. Join Global Wildlife Research team members as they guide you through exotic wilderness to preserve habitats, build and grow your very own protective animal habitats, protect endangered species and expose a cast of entertaining characters.
It is unclear exactly when Disney Animal Kingdom Explorers will be released, but one can imagine it will be up and running on Facebook for Earth Day (April 22nd).
Here is an eye-catching teaser video the game’s developer, Playdom (who, incidentally, had the number one Facebook game of 2011), has released:
What do you think? Could Disney have the next big social game on their hands?
