As a majority of the conclave will happen while many of us are at work and not near a TV, here are a few options for keeping tabs on the historic event on your mobile device.
Everyone has a story. We help you tell yours.
- Hashtag: So far, it seems that the most active hashtag is simply #conclave.
- Who to Follow: The Cardinals are banned from tweeting during the conclave, but there are plenty of pundits in Rome picking up the slack. I have set up this Papal Conclave 2013 Twitter list that includes a number of reporters, news organizations and Vatican experts to follow during the deliberations.
- Official Account: It will be worth watching the Pope’s Official Twitter Account (@Pontifex) once the new Pope is named. The tweets of Pope Benedict XVI have all been archived and it will be interesting to see how the new Pope is introduced to his instant following of 1.6 million Twitter users.
Pope Alarm is a simple, yet handy service. Sign up on the site and you will be alerted via email or text message as soon as the smoke coming from the Sistine Chapel chimney turns white.
