Next time you log in to your Google account, you may see something at the top that is very different from you are used to (although it hasn’t changed for me yet). According to the Google blog, the black Google navigation bar you see when you are logged in and on a Google site, has been replaced with a lighter drop down navigation bar and now includes a search feature.

Every time Google redesigns something lately, it usually means that there is a larger platform change coming. Given that this redesign didn’t change much, other than reorganizing links and inserting search (which anyone using Chrome or Firefox has been able to do for years), this may be setting them up for a larger roll-out. That’s pure speculation, but the only way this redesign makes sense to me.
