The blog post doesn’t specify exactly how many colleges have signed up this year, but they did list a few. Those listed include: Arizona State University, Texas A&M, UCLA, University of Oregon, Texas Tech, USC, Duke University, West Virginia University, University of Oklahoma, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Kansas, Virginia Tech, UC Berkeley, and The Ohio State University.
Each of the partner colleges in the program will have their own badge and foursquare is hinting towards other on-campus programs in the future.
This move is a no-brainer for foursquare. College-aged young adults are the prime demographic for their location-based social network/game. This is the key demo that put Facebook on the path to a mega-network and wide-spread adoption of foursquare by students will elevate the network from its current second-tier status.
