Clothing retailer Chico’s is adding something pretty awesome to its annual “May is for Miracles” donation drive for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. This year, they have created a Facebook app that allows you to send a “Get Well” card to a sick child in one of the 170 partner hospitals across North America.
Once you have finished designing and submitting your card, Chico’s will print it and deliver it to a child at one of the participating hospitals. You can even chose the partner hospital you’d like it to be delivered to if you have a preference.
In addition to delivering the cards, for every card sent, Chico’s will donate $1 (up to $50,000) to CMNH. As I write this, 20,919 cards have already been sent.
The app is available on the Facebook pages of all four of the Chico’s properties: White House Black Market, Chico’s, Boston Proper and Soma Intimates. If you aren’t a regular Facebooker, Chico’s has also set up a non-Facebook microsite where you can also design a card.
This is a digital marketing blog so I would be remiss to not point out that this is a great brand awareness move. I can honestly say that I have never heard of Chico’s before but I am absolutely going to use their app. More importantly than this campaign’s marketing implications, it’s just a good idea.
Seriously, watch this video and I dare you to give me a reason why you wouldn’t take a few minutes and use their app to send a card…
