While most restaurants create location-based contests around the features of Facebook or foursquare, Denny’s has decided to take matters into their own hands and create their own location-based app.
Denny’s has created the “50 State Challenge” app to highlight their presence in all 50 United States and the uniqueness of the restaurants from state to state.
Users can check-in to Denny’s restaurants throughout the U.S. and coupons, badges and state-specific “souvenirs” with each new check-in. They can also use the app to find nearby Denny’s restaurants.

Here is the hook- Denny’s is offering free Grand Slam meals for a year to the first person to check-in to Denny’s restaurants in all 50 states. Yes, I agree, that is pretty much impossible, but fun to try if you have the free time nonetheless.
The contest also allows for users to team up in groups of up to 3 to make the contest a little less impossible. The app description isn’t completely clear about whether the Grand Slam for life prize is available to teams or just to individual participants. If anyone from Denny’s marketing team reads this, please feel free to clarify this.
The app is available for Android and iOS.
So, will you be participating in the Denny’s 50 State Challenge? I welcome all comments, but I am really interested in hearing from people who might find this contest appealing.
