Their contest, Now Boarding, gives their fans a chance to win one of three all expense paid mystery trips along with lesser prizes consisting of Burton merchandise. The premise is simple- entrants just have to ‘pack a bag’ to enter. They select three pieces of clothing or apparel from the Burton line that they would like to thrown in their Burton bag before they take off on the mystery trip. A ‘boarding pass’ is then created for the user and they are entered in the sweeps.
To give the contest an authentic snowboarder feel to it, Burton is selecting the trip winner less than a week before the trip starts, so you need to be able to be a bit flexible with your schedule.
App re-engagement is encouraged in this contest in that contestants are allowed to enter twice a day. Burton is also going to be posting video clues hinting at the location of the trip destination periodically to remind users to re-enter.
This isn’t a bad way for Burton to reward their fans while showing off their merchandise in a non-intrusive way. It also is built in a way that will keep loyalists coming back to their page regularly. Pretty smart.
