TheNextWeb tips us off today to a new tool that could become the ultimate listing of journalist Twitter handles.
Lissted is a new service by traditional PR distribution service, RealWire that enables users to query journalists and then monitor their tweets. It is a freemium service that allows for free searches and listening, but you’ll have to shell out some $$$ if you want to save searches or be notified of new topical conversations.
I love this concept. As both a digital pr guy in the daytime and a blogger at night, I have a unique perspective on this tool. I see everyday how difficult it is to identify and reach journalists that cover a particular topic in a timely fashion. Twitter is often a good way to reach journalists and bloggers, so a tool like this will certainly make that practice more efficient.
On the flip side, I recognize how difficult it is sometimes for a blogger or journalist to come up with enough original, engaging content on a regular basis to keep readers interested. If there is one more tool out there that makes it easier for news to find me, I am all for it.
